What Makes Los Alamos So Attractive??

If you are here for a stay in Los Alamos or White Rock, we think you are in for a treat. Whether you are here for a quick visit, a summer LANL intern job, going to school at UNM-LA for a while, or just visiting family or friends, Los Alamos continues to be the place where discoveries are made. Perhaps you have always wanted to come and learn more about Los Alamos and the part it played in the history of our country. Perhaps you are here as a summer intern, working at LANL. For instance...Los Alamos is the gateway to 3 national parks, has an extensive trail network for hikers and bikers, you can learn about the Lab at the Bradbury Science Museum, check out skiing and views at the Pajarito Mountain ski area, golf here, we have an olympic-sized swimming pool and the only outdoor ice skating rink in NM. There’s camping, birding, the Los Alamos History Museum, the Los Alamos Nature Center and free concerts by Ashley Pond. There are lectures, exhibitions and events such as the annual Los Alamos ScienceFest.

Los Alamos Community life features small-town living with friendly neighbors, low crime and an excellent school system. You can visit nearby Valles Caldera National Preserve and Bandelier National Monument. Los Alamos, and its neighboring community White Rock, are the recipients of many major accolades including “best place to live in New Mexico,” “safest city in New Mexico,” “best place to raise a family in New Mexico,” “healthiest county in New Mexico,” and “best public high schools in New Mexico.” Los Alamos and White Rock were recognized as two of the “happiest small towns in America.” When these attributes are combined with our stunning vistas of the Jemez and Sangre de Cristo Mountains, Los Alamos is certainly a one-of-a-kind place to stay for awhile!
